Alex Rorke
Senior Managing Director of Municipal Securities Group
Mr. Rorke joined Hilliard Lyons in December of 2011. Alex heads the Municipal Securities Group which provides public finance, sales, trading and underwriting services. He has over 30 years of industry experience and has been lead banker for billions of dollars in senior managed financings for large issuers in Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan. Mr. Rorke was Managing Director at UBS (formerly PaineWebber) for fifteen years where he led the firm’s Midwest Public Finance Group. During that time period UBS frequently ranked first as senior manager in the region, including in Illinois and Kentucky. Prior to joining Hilliard, Alex headed national public finance at Loop Capital, where he was responsible for $14.4 billion in senior managed financings.
Mr. Rorke has extensive civic experience. He Co-Chaired Illinois’ Economic Recovery Commission and is a member of the Illinois Budgeting for Results Commission, Co-Chairs the Board of the Chicago Summer Business Institute which provides meaningful summer jobs to achieving inner-city youth and is a Trustee of both the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Louisville Orchestra. He has served as a Trustee of Northwestern University.
Professionally, he is a member of the Municipal Executive Committee of the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association (“SIFMA”).
Alex has a Bachelor of Science and MA degrees from Northwestern University and received his MBA from Columbia University.

Mr. Sutherland joined Hilliard in 2002. Chip provides investment banking and fiscal agent services for a wide variety of clients throughout the Commonwealth including K-12 public schools, water and sewer companies, electric utilities, hospitals, cities, counties, libraries, public and private universities, and 501(c)3 entities. Since 2006, he has led over $3 billion of financings for such governmental entities.

Notable financings outside the K-12 arena include securing funding for T.J. Samson Hospital for a new $45 million medical facility and serving as financial advisor for the University of Kentucky for recent projects totaling $476 million. These projects include the renovation of Commonwealth Football Stadium, construction of a new science building, renovation to Gatton School of Business, and renovation and expansion of various UK HealthCare facilities. Additionally, he has helped the leadership of Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District craft a funding strategy that will address anticipated capital needs and enable it to continue to meet its rating standards. Throughout his tenure with the firm, Chip has been involved in excess of 200 rating agency presentations. He led Metro Louisville’s 2013 and 2014 financings totaling $112.6 million in the last two years. He has been financial advisor to the Louisville Arena Authority since 2012. He earned a Bachelor of Arts & Science degree in Economics from the University of Kentucky in 1996 and an MBA in Finance from Bellarmine University in 2001.

Mr. Bond joined Hilliard Lyons in July 1996. He has over 19 years’ experience in the financial services industry and 16 years as a municipal underwriter and trader. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bond was an analyst with Oxford Financial Advisors in Carmel, Indiana. He is responsible for managing municipal bond competitive and negotiated issues, and all secondary trading for the Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois region for Hilliard Lyons. Since joining the firm, he has worked closely with the Public Finance and Institutional Sales divisions to underwrite and place over 410 Indiana transactions totaling over $2.5 billion. Mr. Bond is also responsible for the secondary market trading of all types of credits.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Mr. Bond has a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University/Grand Canyon University, and is a CFA charter-holder.
